Responsible gambling
Slots are built so that, over time, they pay back less than you put in. The RTP tells you how much less. That makes them a form of paid entertainment, and the tools below exist to keep it that way. Everything on this page comes from official sources checked on October 19, 2026.

What Ontario’s slot rules do for you
The AGCO’s standards for Ontario operators ban auto-play and turbo or quick-spin features, stop you playing several slots at once, require at least 2.5 seconds between spins, and forbid a slot from celebrating a payout equal to or smaller than your stake as a win. A regulated Ontario slot must also show your session’s net position in Canadian dollars. Watching that figure is one of the simplest ways to keep track.
Minimum age
Ontario: 19 for online casino play and casinos, 18 for lottery (iGaming Ontario; OLG). Alberta: 18 for regulated online play (Alberta iGaming Corporation). Quebec: 18, as Loto-Québec’s online pages show. British Columbia: 19 for all gambling (Government of BC). Saskatchewan: 19 for PlayNow.com (Government of Saskatchewan). Manitoba: the age of majority (Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries). We found no official page stating the age in the Atlantic provinces or the territories.

Self-exclusion
Ontario: BetGuard, a free central tool, opts you out of every regulated online gambling site and app in Ontario, including OLG and ProLine+, for 6 months to 5 years; you need to be 19 or older with government photo ID, and the term can be extended but not shortened. Each operator also runs its own program, and OLG’s My PlayBreak covers its casinos, charitable gaming centres and OLG.ca. Alberta: centralized self-exclusion for online sites, land-based casinos or both; AGLC’s Self-Exclusion Program is at 1-844-468-8034 and se@aglc.ca. British Columbia: Game Break, BCLC’s program, via PlayNow’s Customer Support Center at 1-866-815-0222. Quebec: “Break and self-exclusion” and “Set my limits” in your lotoquebec.com account.
Know the cost per hour
At Ontario’s maximum pace of one spin every 2.5 seconds, an hour holds up to 1,440 spins. At C$0.20 a spin that is C$288 wagered, and at an RTP of 96% the expected cost is about C$11.50 an hour; at C$1 a spin, about C$57.60. Working this out before you start, and setting a deposit limit to match, does more than any feature in the game. Regulated operators in Ontario and Alberta must offer deposit and time limits.
