Slot RTP and Configuration Checks

A slot’s RTP is set per version, not per title, so the same game can return a different percentage at different casinos. In our checks on October 19 and 20, 2026, bet365 (Ontario) showed Gates of Olympus at 96.50%, the figure Pragmatic Play publishes, while Betty (Ontario) showed it at 94.5%; Betty showed 10 of the 11 Pragmatic Play titles we opened about 1 to 2 points below the provider’s figure. OLG.ca showed an RTP on every one of the 289 slot pages we collected, and 73 of them gave a range rather than a single number, from 86.0% to 90.5% at the low end to 96.73% to 96.95% at the top. In Ontario, the rules require that figure to be in the game’s rules or help pages before you bet, so you can always check it.

What this section checks, and why

RTP, return to player, is the share of all money staked on a slot that the game is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. It is the one number that tells you the long-run cost of a game, and it is also the number most often quoted wrongly: a provider’s headline figure is not necessarily the version a given casino runs. This section records the RTP each casino shows for each game, next to the provider’s published figure, with the date, and explains how to read and check it.

Why can the same game show different RTPs?

Providers supply more than one version of many games, and the casino chooses which to run. Pragmatic Play’s own pages list one figure per game, for example 96.50% for Gates of Olympus, 96.71% for Big Bass Bonanza and 96.01% for Wolf Gold. bet365 (Ontario) showed those same figures, or within a few hundredths of them, in its lobby info panel. Betty (Ontario) showed lower versions: Gates of Olympus 94.5%, Big Bass Bonanza 95.67%, Wolf Gold 93.99%. Only Fury of Anubis matched the provider at 96.52%.

On C$100 of play the difference is easy to see. At 96.50% the expected cost is C$3.50; at 94.5% it is C$5.50. Over a session of C$1,000 in total bets, that is C$35 against C$55 on the same game.

OLG.ca adds a third pattern: ranges. Its Divine Fortune Gold page shows 96.73% to 96.95%, and its lowest range was 86.0% to 90.5% on Blazing Bison Gold Blitz King Millions. The game page does not say what moves the figure within the range; the rules screen inside the game is the place to look.

What do Ontario’s rules require?

Two AGCO standards matter. Standard 4.06 says that before a bet, game rules or help pages must give comprehensive and accurate information on the odds of winning, payout odds or returns to players. Standard 4.08 says every game and random number generator must be approved by the Registrar or certified by an AGCO-registered independent testing laboratory before it is offered. Together they mean the RTP on a regulated Ontario site is in the rules, and the game behind it has been tested. Neither rule requires a casino to run the provider’s highest version.

The guides in this section

  • Slot RTP explained. What a percentage means in dollars, how much it matters over a session, why some casinos show a range, and what RTP does not tell you.
  • How to check a slot’s RTP. Where to look, in what order: the casino’s game page or lobby panel, the rules screen inside the game, and the provider’s page for comparison, with a worked example.
  • Highest-RTP slots for Canadian players. A matrix of 29 game and casino pairs with the RTP each casino shows and the RTP the provider publishes, led by Divine Fortune Gold on OLG.ca.

How we checked

We collected 289 public slot game pages on OLG.ca on October 19, 2026, opened Betty’s game pages on October 19 and again from an Ontario connection on October 20, and read bet365’s lobby info panels from Ontario on October 20, without logging in. Provider figures come from Pragmatic Play’s and other providers’ own game pages. Each figure is the one shown on the day we read it; casinos can change versions.

What we could not confirm

  • RTPs shown only inside a game after login, at casinos that do not publish them on a game page or lobby panel.
  • Why a given casino chose a given version: casinos do not say.

Check the RTP before you spin

Open the game’s page or info panel at your casino and note the RTP. Then open the provider’s page for the same game and compare. If the casino’s figure is lower, you are on a lower version, and the same game may be available at a higher one elsewhere. Our page on Pragmatic Play slots in Ontario shows which Ontario casinos carry the best-known titles.
